News and Events of the Jubilee   --  800 years of preaching the Word

God of Mercy,

In your eternal Wisdom, you called your servant Dominic to set off on a journey of faith as itinerant pilgrim and preacher of grace. With your Word of gentle Truth in his heart and on his lips, Dominic invited the first sisters and brothers to join him in a life of contemplative obedience in the service of the holy preaching.

As we commemorate this Jubilee, we ask you to breathe the Spirit of the risen Christ once again into our hearts and minds. Re-create us, so that we might faithfully and joyfully proclaim the gospel of peace, through the same Christ, our Lord.

AMEN.

SPOTTERS WANTED:  This page needs contributors.  If you see anything that should be posted here, please send it to me at stlopl@brick.net.  Thanks,

Joe Komadina, web editor

Virtual Jubilee Gallery  -- Artists take note:

5/1/09

In celebration of our ongoing Jubilee pilgrimage, which will culminate in 2016 with the 800th anniversary of the confirmation of  the Order, the General Promoters of the Order are opening a virtual Jubilee Gallery that will be accessible through the Order’s  webpage. The doors are now open for all artists, poets, and musicians (all artistic media and languages are welcome) to share their Jubilee Art with the Dominican family worldwide.

Each year of the Jubilee we invite you to share art that expresses in some creative way the Jubilee theme of that particular year.

For 2009, we are welcoming your creative, artistic preaching focused on a theme:

“In the beginning was the Word: St. Dominic, Preacher of Grace.”

Please send an electronic photograph or the written text of your artwork to the following address:  idi@curia.op.org. Artwork of a general nature (in other words, not focused on the annual Jubilee theme) will not be accepted.

The artwork will be posted on the Jubilee icon on the Order’s home page. Each entry should be accompanied with the artist’s name, city, country, and e-mail or regular mail address. If the artist requires permission for copying or reproduction of his or her artwork, please note “permission required for reproduction or publication” when sending your artwork too.  If you are open for your artwork to be reproduced or published by the Dominican family worldwide, then please add the words “ permission granted for public use” after your address.

May our brother, the mystic and artist, Blessed Fra Angelico, OP inspire us to be creative preachers of grace.
