Newly prospective members often wonder what they will learn about the Dominicans. The Initiate program lasts six months and should furnish the initiate with a general understanding of the Lay Dominican vocation. Here is the program we follow sucessfully in Farmington Hills, MI:

I. INTRODUCTION

II. CATHOLIC ORDERS

III. PRAYER

IV. STUDY

V. COMMUNITY

VI. PREACHING

At each meeting material is assigned for the Initiate to study during the month and, then, discuss at the next meeting, The Initiate will have learned about the all-important four pillars around which the Order revolves. He or she will be able to evaluate his or her vocation with the Formation Director.

Terry,

Thanks for these two posts.  They are useful outlines for all of us.  I hope this site is providing useful and accessable materials to flesh out the study.  The more we can all work on finding what works best and sharing ideas, the better our own formation as community will be.  Joe Komadina
