We have now passed the half-way mark for Lent. How are you doing? Great? That's terrific! Just so-so? Join the crowd. It is human nature to need a pick-me-up during Lent. A 'Tira mi su'. It is good to reevaluate our situation. And, most importantly, it is never too late to have a great Lent, leading to a truly wonderful Easter.
The Office of Readings for the third week, Tuesday, featured a sermon by St. Peter Chrysologus in which he said: "There are three things, my brethren, by which faith stands firm, devotion remains constant, and virtue endures. They are prayer, fasting and mercy." Being joyful Dominicans, mercy is a way to bring joy to others. Simply by showing a joyful attitude to each person we meet, the world will be a better place by Easter! So have mercy, be joyful!
