The Dominicans are fond of the saying, "If you've met one Dominican, you've met one Dominican."  The thing is we are all different.  We come from different backgrounds, educational levels, religious viewpoints.  We are different sexes, ages, races, etc.  Some are conservative;  some are liberal. This is why we accept all who wish to follow the 'Dominican Way of Life'.

We are united in our differences because we all follow Dominic who followed Christ.  It's a JOYFUL life!

When you hear Dominicans of any branch tell their vocation stories, there always seem to be other Dominicans who come up in the narrative.  "I met Father (or Sister, or Brother, or Mister, or Ms.) So-and-So, and I started thinking, 'Maybe this way of life is for me!'  And then . . . "  And of course, the rest is history!

If I ever get a chance to preach at a profession, I'm quite sure that at some point I will say, "People are drawn to Dominican life by Dominicans' lives.  Now, it is time for your life to be the kind that draws others, as God calls them."
